Virtual Private Network (VPN)

VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a service that provides password-protected access to KFUPM's network and Internet services when you are connecting from off-campus.

You can go to https://vpn.kfupm.edu.sa to access KFUPM resources which are not directly available on the public internet.

No, VPN does not work from KFUPM network, one needs to be connected to an external network like STC, Mobily, Zain for VPN to work etc.

No, you are only authorized to access your office PC through VPN.

When prompted to enter a username and password, you will need to enter your KFUPM internet username and password. When prompted for Secure Code, get the One Time PIN (OTP) from Authlogics Authenticator application installed on your mobile device. Any of the OTP, PINgrid or PINpass can be used as the Secure Code.

No, VPN provides security by encrypting and decrypting data that passes through a VPN connection; it does not offer protection from viruses.

You can use a secondary device if it is already added in your MFA Self-Service portal, to logon to MFA portal or any other MFA enabled service e.g. mail.kfupm.edu.sa.
In case, you lost your only device that was added in your MFA Self-Service portal, then, call helpdesk at 3111. Helpdesk personnel will allow you to use your domain credentials temporarily so that you can on-board a new device in the self-service portal to do so,
▪ Go to https://mfa.kfupm.edu.sa
▪ Use domain credentials KFUPM <username>/<password> to sign-in to MFA Self-Service portal.
▪ To add your new device, follow the relevant link;

Login to MFA Self Service portal and try to sign in to it using any of the OTP methods i.e. PINgrid or PINpass.

You can access your office machine through the VPN Portal as follows.
2. Enter your security code from mobile application. (Your mobile must be registered. If it is not registered earlier)
3. Once you are logged on to KFUPM VPN Portal.
4. Under network section, you will find “IP Address” (You will need to specify your machine IP address manually, if your machine is not joined to domain)
5. A one-time RDP session file will be downloaded. The name would be launchxxxxx.rdp, where xxxx is random code.
6. Execute the downloaded file in previous step and click connect.
Note:
• For every session, you are required to download new RDP session file in Step-5.
• Access to office PC is not available for students.

It happens when you try to use old RDP session file or open KFUPM VPN page in new tab when there is already an existing session forcing the old session to terminate. So, it will fail to connect as session doesn't exists anymore.
Workaround for this problem is to close existing windows and download fresh RDP session file.

Your machine is missing patches and not updated. Update your machine.
